OKMed Innovations was founded in 2021 by Mobola Kukoyi when she saw a need for respiratory assistive devices in Ghana and Nigeria with the help of the Health Maker Lab at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Now, we are currently developing our first product aimed at addressing respiratory failure in areas that are not reached by current medical technology companies. The Health Maker Lab has provided over $25,000 worth of resources and support for OKMed Innovations to conduct research and develop our first life-saving medical product: Koyivent, a low-cost, non-invasive ventilator. Kukoyi won the Health Make-a-Thon in 2020 and came back to win again with her team in 2022.
